| Unless you are going to need more than one bedroom and decide to go the house rental route, one of the least expensive ways to book a dive trip to Cozumel is through a wholesaler who will sell you a package of air, hotel and possibly diving all for a single price. You may or may not find yourself flying on a charter but often times, your entire total package price will end up very close to what the commercial air fare alone would have cost you. Note that the following list of dive oriented wholesalers list hotels and dive operators that are frequently packaged together. However, other combinations are available from most tour operators as are non-diver packages.
If you do decide to go the package trip route and include diving in your package, make sure you understand what type of boat your dive trips are booked on. Most will be on the larger “slow” boats. If it’s what you want, that’s fine but many divers in Cozumel prefer the faster small boats. Upgrades to the fast boats are usually available at a slightly higher cost. Note that the following list of dive oriented wholesalers list hotels and dive operators that are frequently packaged together.
One additional word of warning: several dive specific travel companies (like Tropical Adventures) have recently hit on hard times and have gone out of business. Make sure you check up on the reliability of any tour operator before you hand over your money.
Bay Adventures Is owned by former Cozumel resident Al Bay and offers a good selection of hotels in packages with diving with Dive Paradise. The web site also lists some last minute discounted charter airfares from selected cities in the U.S.
